WOUND CARE
Wounds that occur in any part of the body are also included in the treatment field of plastic surgery. Pressure sores, diabetes-related wounds, and neuropathic wounds are the most common chronic wounds. The first approach in wound care is to treat the cause of the wound. Afterwards, it is decided whether the wound will be closed surgically or followed with a long-term dressing.

Pressure Sore
It generally occurs in people whose general condition is impaired due to prolonged lying. It may occur in cases of temporary immobility or paralysis due to surgeries. It tends to occur in the lower part of the hip in patients who can sit, and in the back and side of the legs in patients who lie constantly. First of all, it is recommended to ensure the patient's frequent movement and position change, to use an air mattress, to prevent urine or feces from contaminating the wound, and to perform regular cleaning and care. In cases suitable for surgery, pressure sores can be cleaned and repaired by tissue transfer from surrounding tissues.
Diabetic Ulcer
Diabetic foot ulcers may occur in uncontrolled diabetes, as well as the first sign of diabetic foot diabetes. Diabetic ulcers are difficult to treat wounds, but they can eventually be cured, albeit long-term. First of all, blood sugar should be brought to an appropriate level, if there is an infection, it should be treated, and if there is dead tissue, it should be cleaned with a surgical procedure called debridement. Appropriate foot care in diabetic ulcer facilitates the treatment and also reduces the formation of new ulcers. The most important criterion in the surgical treatment of diabetic ulcer is the blood supply of the area. If the blood circulation of the foot is severely impaired, if there are advanced ulcers, amputations at the appropriate level increase the patient's quality of life. Diabetes patients should have their feet checked regularly or consult a physician immediately if ulcers occur.
