Who is Breast Lift Applied to?
Breast lift process
-
Developmentally drooping breast tissue
-
Sagging breast tissue after breastfeeding
-
It can be applied to people whose breast tissue is reduced and sagging as a result of excessive weight loss.
What Are the Methods Used in Breast Lifting?
Breast Lift process includes the recovery of sagging breast tissue and removal of excess skin. Sometimes, silicone breast prostheses can be applied to achieve a better result in Breast Lift surgery.
What Is Done Before Breast Lift Surgery?
General examination and evaluation is done before Breast Lift. Preoperative imaging methods such as USG or mammography are used to investigate whether there is a suspicious lesion in the breast. If a prosthesis is needed for breast lift surgery, the shape and dimensions of the prosthesis are decided. You should openly discuss your expectations with your doctor for a good result. However, you should not forget that the surgeries are applied to show the person's body better, not to make it perfect. As in any surgery, tests related to anesthesia are performed.
How is Breast Lift Procedure Applied?
Breast Lift can be done with circular, lollilop or inverted T-shaped incisions from the nipple. The technique is decided according to the patient's examination findings. The surgery takes approximately 2 - 2.5 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. 1 day hospitalization is recommended. At the end of the surgery, the incision line is dressed and a special bra is put on.
What Happens After Breast Lift?
Swelling, bruising and pain may occur in the first few days after Breast Lift. Pain can be controlled with painkillers. Wearing a supportive bra can speed recovery. Swelling and bruising may continue for a week or two.
After the Breast Lift procedure, the person can return to his daily life, provided that he avoids heavy activities within a few days. After an average of 1.5 months, sports etc. activities can be returned.
After Breast Lift, scars are left in areas that can be hidden as much as possible. Although a line-shaped scar remains in general, significant scars may occur in those with wound healing disorders. In addition, different scars may occur because more incisions are needed in patients undergoing joint erection.
What Is The Result After Breast Lift
With the Breast Lift procedure, there is an improvement in breast sagging, the difference in shape or size between your breasts can be corrected. However, some structural breast deformities do not disappear with breast augmentation.
In general, women are satisfied with the breast lift procedure. However, the anatomical structure and expectations of the person are also very important. People who have realistic expectations and can openly share them have a higher satisfaction rate.
Weight change, pregnancy, aging can lead to changes in breast size and shape.
What are the Risks of Breast Lift?
Early-term risks such as bleeding, infection, and wound dehiscence can be seen in this surgery, although at a low rate. Nipple numbness may occur temporarily. Very rarely it can be permanent. The difference in size and shape after surgery does not generally occur unless the person has a significant chest asymmetry. Incompatibility between breast tissue and implant may lead to asymmetry in patients who used breast prosthesis together with breast lift. Secondary surgeries may be needed at a rate of 10%.
If the implant is used, hardening, softening, position change, and deflation due to injury may occur in the implant over time. Secondary surgical interventions may be required for these situations.
Capsule contracture is a late complication of breast implant. The hardening of the tissue surrounding the breast tissue and compression of the breast implant may result in distortions in the shape of the breast. Sometimes it may be necessary to surgically remove the capsule and replace the prosthesis.
Prostheses placed under the breast may prevent masses from being seen on mammography. In this case, a submuscular plan may be preferred or the breast is visualized by another method such as MR .
